Speak about risk with the precision auditors respect

When you can tell a threat from an exposure from a vulnerability, the room listens differently. This self-paced online course builds that vocabulary, then adds an assessment methodology and checklists for finding the most common risks in business systems and automated business environments.

  • You're an internal control, audit, or compliance professional who wants a sharper, more defensible risk vocabulary.
  • You review business systems or automated environments and need a repeatable way to surface common risks.
  • You're working through the ICI catalog toward the CICS credential.
  • You lead a finance or operations team and want risk discussed in consistent terms across every review.

What you get

What you'll walk away with

A working risk vocabulary

Threat, exposure, and vulnerability are defined and distinguished, so the terms you use hold up in front of auditors and reviewers.

An assessment methodology

A structured approach to assessing risk that you can apply across the business systems you're responsible for.

Practical checklists

Checklists that help you find the most common risks without starting from a blank page.

Coverage of automated environments

The course addresses the most common risks in automated business environments alongside traditional business systems.

CBOK alignment

Like every ICI course, it's taught against the Common Body of Knowledge framework that anchors the Institute's curriculum.

Progress toward CICS

Risk Assessment sits in the eight-course catalog you can work through as a full curriculum toward the CICS credential.

How it works

How the course works

Enroll online

Enroll in Risk Assessment through the Institute's online course platform.

Work at your own pace

The course is self-paced. You set the schedule and move through the material as your work allows.

Apply the methodology

Put the vocabulary, methodology, and checklists to work on the next system you assess.

Precision changes how the room treats you

Risk conversations reward the person who can name things exactly. When you distinguish a threat from an exposure from a vulnerability, auditors give your findings more weight and executives treat your assessment as a reference point. That standing is built on precision. This course gives you the vocabulary, a methodology for applying it, and checklists you can put to work on your next review.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this the same as the Identifying, Measuring and Managing Risk course?

Do I have to take the catalog courses in order?
You can pick courses by topic or work the full eight-course curriculum toward CICS. Risk Assessment can be taken on its own.
Is the course CPE-eligible?
Yes, ICI catalog courses are CPE-eligible. For questions about credit in your specific situation, contact the Institute.
Does ICI membership change what I pay?
Members receive their first course free with their first membership, and annual subscribers can enroll in any catalog course directly. See the membership page for current details.
